East Coast Off-Road Bash 2018

June 21-24, 2018 | George Washington National Forest | Harrisonburg, VA

Summary

You all asked for it, so here we go. Let’s tackle some trails in the beautiful George Washington National Forest, located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. Everything will be accessible to totally-stock 4WD SUVs, although “real 4×4” with a transfer case/low range is highly recommended. Half-ton or larger pickups will have a hard time given their length and are not advisable.

Join the Facebook event to post questions, connect with other attendees, and get the latest updates throughout the weekend.

Registration

Please register only once you know you are positive you are attending. The registration count will be used to coordinate meet-ups, plan a dinner reservation or two, and link eager passengers to drivers who have extra seats.

Register using this form.

If you plan on joining us for dinner at the AirBnB on Friday evening, please send $20 to Jake via Venmo or PayPal when you register.

Lodging

An AirBnB has been secured for approximately 10-13 guests. Located about 15 minutes south of Harrisonburg in Bridgewater, VA, the house is located on the North River. It will be a great place for some of us to stay, and for the whole group to get together for some food and drinks.

Jake will be coordinating bed rentals at the AirBnB. Although some beds may sleep two, if you want to rent the bed solo and starfish all weekend, that is your prerogative. For those wishing to share a bed with a friend/friend with benefits/boyfriend/husband/whatever, work with them directly after they pay for the bed on their own.

Spaces available are listed below. Prices listed cover your entire stay.

  • Queen bed in shared room ($170)
  • Double bed in shared room ($120)Reserved by Matt W
  • Full bed in private room ($180)Reserved by Mark F
  • 2x Full beds in shared (same) room ($160)
  • Queen bed in private room ($180)

Additionally, there will be room for two air mattresses in somewhat-secluded parts of the house, at a cost of $50 per space.

There will likely be more attendees than space in the AirBnB house. Hotel options within Harrisonburg include:

What To Bring

While the trails we hit should be fine for most any 4WD vehicle, it never hurts to be prepared. Two-way radios will be used to keep in contact while on the trails. Every vehicle must have a radio.

Jake will have a 2-ton, high-lift floor jack and electric impact with sockets if any tire changes need to occur.

  • Two-way radio [suggested: Baofeng UV-5R, $26 on Amazon]
  • Case of water
  • Cooler, if you have one
  • Full-size spare wheel/tire – check tire pressure to ensure it’s not flat
  • Lug wrench that fits your lug nuts
  • Spare fluids, particularly if your vehicle is a bit leak-prone
  • Sunscreen
  • Weekend clothes
  • Toiletries
  • Swimwear
  • Bath/beach towel (to bring to Blue Hole)
  • Phone charger
